Live Tracking will be available for participants, spectators, family and friends to utilize during the 2019 Kansas City Marathon presented by Garmin. The FREE Kansas City Marathon presented by Garmin app uses the participants’ split times and current pace to calculate their estimated location along the course. View their race marker in real time as they make their way through the course. Simply click the Live Tracking button within the app and search by name, email or bib number. Add up to 25 participants to your tracking list and follow along on race day! NOTE: Pre-registered participants will be uploaded and searchable by Tuesday, October 16.

Here are a few tips when planning to cheer and spectate at the Kansas City Marathon presented by Garmin:
Westport is the official Spectator Zone of the race and friends and family are encouraged to gather there to enjoy live music and food and drink specials from area bars and restaurants.
Identify a spot on the course where your group will meet and cheer on the runners. It’s best to get set up before the race start time to avoid road closures. Perhaps choose a spot that might seem “off the beaten path.” Quieter stretches on the course can be the hardest for runners and hearing your cheers can give them the extra motivation to keep going!
Make it a party! Bring music, provide snacks for you and your friends, create a theme for the group and dress up. Watching you have fun is a great distraction for the runners.
Distribute items in an efficient “to go” way (for example - fill a small disposable cup with a few jelly beans and pass it off to the runners as they go by).
Offer items to runners that aren’t provided at designated water/fuel stops: tissues, chewable candies (starbursts, gummies), pretzels, sliced oranges and halved bananas in the peel, popsicle sticks dipped in petroleum jelly, Band-Aids (chaffing or blistering runners will love you!).
And don’t forget HIGH FIVES (and low fives) and signs that are funny, encouraging or personalized.
