About THRIVE KC

THRIVE KC is comprised of high schoolers from the Kansas City Metro area who commit their time and energy to the promotion of WIN for KC and women and girls in sports. Members of the advisory board receive leadership and career training along with opportunities to interact with decorated professionals who are also involved with WIN for KC in the Kansas City community. With members from a variety of school districts, this group of athletic-minded students leverages its experience to become future leaders.

THRIVE KC…

➔    Engages high school girls to serve as advocates, advisors, and ambassadors for WIN for KC
➔    Provides opportunities for leadership development
➔    Offers unique mentoring opportunities with influential women in our community
➔    Earns community service hours by volunteering at WIN for KC events


APPLICATION INFORMATION

Member Expectations

★    Serve as an ambassador, spokesperson, and representative of WIN for KC, all its work, mission, and initiatives in the community
★    Attend all THRIVE KC meetings in-person during the 2024-25 term (August - May). Each member is allowed 3 excused absences and must provide advanced written notice of absence (within 48 hours (2 days) of the scheduled meeting) in order for the absence to be excused. Two unexcused absences may result in immediate dismissal from the board.

  • Meetings take place on Sundays from 1 - 2:30 p.m. with few exceptions and meeting dates will be provided to THRIVE KC members in August for the remainder of the term.

  • In addition to leadership and career training meetings topics, meetings also include social opportunities like holiday parties, scavenger hunts and team building activities like pickleball.

★    Pay $40 for THRIVE KC annual dues.
★    Volunteer at the following major WIN for KC events:

❏   Personal Statement

❏   Two (2) references with an included reference letter for each

  • One (1) must be from a coach or point contact for an extracurricular activity/club

    One (1) must be from a teacher or counselor

Timeline

  • Applications open May 3 and close June 28

  • Acceptance notifications go out by July 15.

Applications are currently closed for the 2024/2025 school year.
