Temwa Chawinga Announced as Forvis Mazars Be Bold Award Honoree for the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards Presented by Burns & McDonnell

KANSAS CITY, MO (January 24, 2025) – Today, WIN for KC announced Temwa Chawinga is the recipient of the Forvis Mazars Be Bold Award to be presented at the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell on February 4. The annual awards program is WIN for KC’s biggest fundraiser and the largest luncheon in the country celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

The Kansas City Current forward took the National Women’s Soccer League by storm in her rookie year. Chawinga set the NWSL single season scoring record with 20 goals to become the Golden Boot Winner and the league’s Most Valuable Player. She was the first player to score on all 13 active teams in a single season, while also leading the KC Current to the record for most goals scored by a team in a season. Her jaw-dropping speed and dangerous finishing skills in the final third make her a fan favorite not just in Kansas City, but league wide.

“Temwa makes every single one of us better, both on and off the field,” said KC Current General Manager Caitlin Carducci. “She pushes herself for greatness, which makes everyone else strive for greatness. She gives her heart and soul for this crest, this club and this city. It’s amazing to see how Temwa has been embraced by this city in just one season.”

The 2025 WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell, which takes place this year at T-Mobile Center for the first time, kicks off by honoring local 2024 female high school state champions from Kansas and Missouri with their celebratory march across the stage. Then, throughout the luncheon, event attendees learn about the six honorees in the following categories: Children’s Mercy Kansas City Rising Star Award, Lockton Courage Award, Kissick Construction Game Changer Award, UMBFC Charitable Foundation Lifetime Sportswoman Award, Hallmark Cards Leadership Award and Forvis Mazars BE BOLD Award. Finally, the featured guest delivers remarks reflecting her challenges and triumphs in the world of sports.

The 2025 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell will be on Tuesday, February 4. For more information, please click here
