Amber Clark Announced as hallmark cards leadership award honoree for the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards Presented by Burns & McDonnell

KANSAS CITY, MO (January 15, 2025) – Today, WIN for KC announced Amber Clark is the recipient of the Hallmark Cards Leadership Award to be presented at the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell on February 4. The annual awards program is WIN for KC’s biggest fundraiser and the largest luncheon in the country celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

After running track at the University of North Carolina, Amber Clark began playing tackle football in the Legends Football League. Clark switched to flag football after the covid pandemic, making USA Football’s U.S. National Team in 2023 and 2024. She won gold medals with the U.S. National Team both years, including one the 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in Lahti, Finland. She spends her time coaching at national ID camps, speaking to girls across the country and working to expand opportunities for girls in football. Clark coaches her own collegiate flag football team at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth and was elected to USA Football’s Board of Directors.

“Amber is one of the biggest advocates for women in sports, especially women in football. She embodies the qualities USA Football looks for in athletes who can be ambassadors for the game,” said Eric Mayes, USA Football Managing Director of High Performance and National Teams. “The movement for greater accessibility for girls and women in football is at its most significant moment in the sport’s history. Amber has quickly become a role model and mentor for athletes in communities across the country while representing the U.S. in the largest-ever international competition and making history as the head coach of one of the first NAIA women’s flag football programs.”

The 2025 WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell, which takes place this year at T-Mobile Center for the first time, kicks off by honoring local 2024 female high school state champions from Kansas and Missouri with their celebratory march across the stage. Then, throughout the luncheon, event attendees learn about the six honorees in the following categories: Children’s Mercy Kansas City Rising Star Award, Lockton Courage Award, Kissick Construction Game Changer Award, UMBFC Charitable Foundation Lifetime Sportswoman Award, Hallmark Cards Leadership Award and Forvis Mazars BE BOLD Award. Finally, the featured guest delivers remarks reflecting her challenges and triumphs in the world of sports.

“Amber Clark dedicates her time to promoting flag football to ensuring girls have the opportunities to play football that she didn’t have while growing up,” says Taylor Obersteadt, Director of WIN for KC. “She not only leads by example as an athlete, but also steps forward into leadership positions like serving on USA Football’s Board of Directors.”
