The WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards, presented by Burns & McDonnell, recognizes local girls and women for their contributions and achievements in sports and fitness. We welcome nominations for nominees residing within the Kansas City bi-state area; however, priority may be given to local stories of nominees (as defined within the counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte, Cass, Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Miami, and Johnson County, KS).

Children's Mercy Sports Medicine Center Rising Star Award

The Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center Rising Star Award will be presented to a local girl (18 years of age or younger) who exhibits outstanding leadership qualities, demonstrates the ability to set and achieve goals, and has made a special impact on the community through sports.

Lockton Courage Award

The Lockton Courage Award will be presented to a local woman or girl who demonstrates the ability to redefine barriers despite physical or mental challenges through her participation in sports, who has overcome tremendous obstacles to succeed in sports, or who has made a significant comeback in life and sports.

Kissick Construction Game Changer Award

The Kissick Construction Game Changer Award will be presented to a local individual or group who personifies the true spirit of sport not as a participant, but as a supporter, promoter, or champion of girls’ and women’s sports and fitness or by becoming a trailblazer for other women in regard to opportunities in sport as a career.  Nominees demonstrate empowerment by working behind the scenes to promote or create opportunities for women and girls in sports.

This award is given to an individual(s) that portray(s) the above-listed characteristics well beyond what may be considered expectations that align with their job/role within an organization (coaches, athletic directors, administrators, etc.). There are many deserving candidates fitting of this award, but to ensure we’re honoring those going above and beyond, we need you to show (and tell) us what they are doing! Nominators are encouraged to provide supporting materials to help showcase your nominee’s contributions to girls and women in the community that truly go above and beyond – including but not limited to articles, stories published, websites, news stories online, etc.

UMBFC Charitable Foundation Lifetime Sportswoman Award

The UMB Lifetime Sportswoman Award will be presented to a local woman, age 55 or older, who demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities, encourages participation of girls and women in sports and still engages in athletics.

Hallmark Cards Leadership Award

The Hallmark Cards Leadership Award will be presented to a local female inspirational leader who best exemplifies the characteristics of a mentor to female athletes of all ages.  Nominees should actively make significant contributions and a lasting impact on female athletes throughout the community.
