WIN for KC & Gold Griff Athlete Agency Announce New Event “Let’s Talk Football” presented by Children’s Mercy Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, MO (July 24, 2024) – WIN for KC, one of Kansas City’s leading organizations involved in the empowerment of women and girls through sports, and Golf Griff Athlete Agency, a woman-owned and Kansas City-based talent agency representing some of the most talented professional individuals in sports and entertainment, have partnered on a new event focused on educating women of all ages on the basics and finer points of professional football in a fun and engaging setting.
Let’s Talk Football, presented by Children’s Mercy Kansas City, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 8 at Chicken N Pickle in Overland Park, Kansas. This female-only sports event welcomes mothers, daughters (ages 8 and up), friends and neighbors to learn about one of Kansas City’s favorite pastimes from retired professional players, sports broadcasters and members of the Kansas City Glory, the Midwest’s only team in the Women’s National Football Conference.
“Football has traditionally been a male-dominated space, but that is rapidly changing,” says Taylor Obersteadt, Director of WIN for KC. “Whether it’s girls trying flag football, college athletes playing professional women’s football or female fans becoming increasingly invested in the success of their local NFL team, there is significant opportunity to create meaningful dialogue, awareness and interaction around the sport of football and women in our community.”
The event begins with a social hour where guests can participate in games, trivia, an equipment try-on station, throwing instruction, Charlie Hustle pop-up and more, all while enjoying delicious tailgate snacks and drinks. The second hour of Let’s Talk Football showcases industry experts providing interactive explanations of the rules, strategies, and nuances of football. And as an optional addition, attendees can stay for a 2-hour play-by-play party where they’ll watch a live game and put their knowledge to the test.
