Caitlin Clark Announced as Featured Speaker at the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell
KANSAS CITY, MO (November 19, 2024) – WIN for KC, Kansas City’s local nonprofit working to empower women and girls through sports, announced Caitlin Clark as the featured guest of the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell on February 4, 2025. The annual awards program is WIN for KC’s biggest fundraiser and largest luncheon in the country celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
One of the most exciting basketball players of her generation, Caitlin Clark led the University of Iowa Hawkeyes to three consecutive Big 10 championships during her collegiate career and made history as the first college player to surpass 3,000 points, 750 rebounds, and 750 assists. In the last home game of her senior season, Clark surpassed Pete Maravich for most points scored by a Division I basketball player, men's or women's. After taking the University of Iowa to back-to-back NCAA Championship games, she was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft, which was the most-watched draft in league history. And at the conclusion of an extraordinary rookie year, Clark became the first rookie since Candace Parker in 2008 to make the First Team All-WNBA, one of only five players to ever achieve this honor and was also named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.
“As we recognize incredible women and girls who have made an impact through sports in the Kansas City area, it’s an honor to have one of the preeminent athletes in the world – Caitlin Clark – at the Women’s Sports Awards,” says Taylor Obersteadt, Director of WIN for KC. “Her work through the Caitlin Clark Foundation parallels the work WIN for KC does every day to emphasize the lifetime benefits of sports and physical activity.”
Our 2025 featured guest’s appearance is made possible by the generous support of CommunityAmerica Credit Union and Veracity, and for the first time, the Women’s Sports Awards will be held at T-Mobile Center. The iconic Kansas City venue, home to the Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships and NCAA tournament games, offers a dynamic, exciting setting for this historic iteration of the event. A limited number of general admission tickets will be offered to the public and are expected to go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20. Click here to purchase tickets.
“Sports have played a pivotal role in my life, helping develop critical skills like teamwork, resiliency and confidence that serve me on and off the court,” said Clark. “WIN for KC are incredible champions for creating opportunity for girls and women through sports and I’m excited to join them to celebrate those that are making an impact.”
The 2025 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns and McDonnell will be on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Sponsorship inquires can be directed to Dave Borchardt (dborchardt@sportkc.org) and additional information about the Women’s Sports Awards and WIN for KC can be found here.
