NICK ENGSTROM

Chief Operating Officer, KCGameOn

Nick is a proud dad of 2, a husband, a gamer, a sports fanatic (KState/Royals/Chiefs), a 20 year IT professional and the CEO of KCGameOn.

Nick's passion for gaming and esports started in high school with strategy games like Starcraft and Warcraft. These games created the fervor for LAN parties, which he hosted in his college apartment and after hours in the local movie theater, where he worked. Nick moved to the Kansas City metro to take a job at a local health IT company, where he found a group of people with similar gaming interests that got together on the weekends. This grassroots community is what eventually grew into KCGameOn in 2005.

Over the last 17 years KCGameOn has evolved into a not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting esports and gaming within the Kansas City Metro. They have hosted several multi-day gaming conventions where thousands have attended in event spaces like HyVee Arena and the KCI Expo Center.

KCGameOn currently hosts the KC Corporate Esports Cup on behalf of the KC Esports Coalition and has recently worked with the Kansas City Royals to host a hybrid MLB The Show tournament where the top 4 players played live on Crown Vision from the Diamond Club inside Kauffman Stadium. In 2022 and beyond, KCGameOn plans to host additional online tournaments, multiple physical events and more multi-day conventions.
