DAVE BORCHARDT

VICE PRESIDENT, Corporate & Community Relations
HE/HIM | dborchardt@sportkc.org | 816-389-4191

Dave is a lifelong Kansas Citian who is proud to have attended the University of Missouri. While at Mizzou, his studies focused on English & Communications, and he planned to have a career as a sportswriter.

Instead of print journalism, Dave spent the beginning of his career working in Sports Radio with Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City. From 2000 – 2008, Dave did every on-air role imaginable, beginning with being a board operator, then becoming a producer, and eventually adding on duties as a reporter and a show host. Before departing in 2008, Dave was the host of “The Late Show” on weekday evenings as well as the co-host for the station’s Kansas City Chiefs pregame & postgame shows, in addition to producing “Between the Lines” with Kevin Kietzman, Kansas City’s longest-running sports talk show.

In 2008, Dave left the radio station to join Sporting Kansas City (then known as the Kansas City Wizards). Dave was the team’s Public Relations Manager. Some of the highlights of his career were the rebranding of the team from the Wizards to Sporting KC in 2010, as well as the opening of the incredible Children’s Mercy Park in 2011. Dave is proud that he was there when Sporting KC’s popularity exploded and they became one of the “big boys” in the Kansas City sports scene.

Shortly after Sporting KC’s new stadium opened, Dave moved to Time Warner Cable and took over as their communications manager for Kansas City & Lincoln, NE. Dave’s role eventually transitioned to Events & Community Investment, and his territory expanded to cover Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Cleveland.

In 2016, Dave’s career returned to sports when he joined the Kansas City Sports Commission as the organization’s Director of Events. Currently, Dave serves as the Sports Commission’s Vice President of Corporate & Community Relationships, as well as the Race Director for the Kansas City Marathon (the largest annual race in Kansas City). This role is a perfect fit for Dave, as he loves talking to people & building relationships, and he is a passionate runner.

Dave is married and has two sons. In his free time, he enjoys running, attending his children’s sporting events and cheering on the Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC and Mizzou.
